Where is Aroma Maya coffee roasted?

Aroma Maya coffee roasters is located in North River, Nova Scotia. A small town in the Truro area, just a few minutes from downtown Truro! We craft roast exclusively Guatemalan coffee in small batches.

How many cups does a bag of coffee yield?

While this depends on your brewing method of choice, on average you can get about 25 cups! This is based on using a tablespoon/cup.

Can you use Aroma Maya coffees on Keurig machines?

Yes! All you need is a re-usable k-cup which you can fill with freshly roasted coffee! Order whole beans if you like grinding your own coffee or ground if you like to keep it simple.

Do coffes come ready to be brewed?

Coffees come in both whole beans and pre-ground form. Just make sure you select your preferred form!

What is the best way of storing coffee?

Our coffee bags are designed to keep coffee fresh for as long as possible. After opening your coffee bag, close it well and store it in a dark and cool location. Consuming your bag within two weeks from opening will also guarantee the freshness of your coffee. If you are freezing your coffee beans or grinds, allow them to get to room temperature before brewing a cup! Otherwise, the temperature clash will leave you with a bitter aftertaste in your cup.

What makes Aroma Maya different?

Our exclusively Guatemalan coffees are ethically sourced and organically grown. We roast them in small batches, which you have probably heard of before. But let us explain what this does... Roasting in small batches allows coffee beans to roast evenly to achieve a uniform roasting taste after the process is done. We also use a slow roasting process, which allows the coffee beans natural sugars to caramelize instead of burning them. It's called coffee cherry before it's prepared for roasting.

The bags we use to package our coffees are designed to meet the high demands of coffee. Let's be honest... it's very easy to tell good coffee from bad coffee. It is also easy to tell when coffee is not fresh, and packaging plays a big role. Coffee can be very sensitive to UV rays, oxygen and that is exactly why our bags are built with high barrier material that protects coffee from UV rays. We also package our coffee right after it's been roasted, which allows the beans to de-gas in the bag through the de-gassing valve, leaving little to no oxygen inside to spoil its freshness. We have recently transitioned into using eco-friendly, high-barrier bags. After removing the de-gassing valve and tin tie, our bags can return to earth.
